The Struggle of a Weak Aristocrat in a Different World C29: Letter
Dear Chris, Viscount Dreschord.
I hope you are doing well now that the grass and trees are getting greener. I would like to thank you very much for the kindness you extended to me and for letting me stay at your inn in the Royal Capital the other day. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I would also like to report about the pot-in-pot that you told me about at the dinner table. Thanks to your help, we have successfully completed the pot-in-pot, and although it is still early days in its practical use, we believe that it will soon be effective and eliminate conflicts.
If there is anything you need, I will be happy to provide it to you at another time. Please take care of yourself and stay safe.
Sincerely yours, Yakult Wald
Hmmm…..I’m pretty sure I taught him, but I have no memory of it.
“Does this remind you of anyone?”
“Probably a drunk Yakult, based on the letter and his name.”
“Oh, you mean the one that Master Chris brought in and trapped under the bed?”
“Well, yeah, but you could have said it a little better, couldn’t you?”
“You mean the one you tried to force yourself on after trapping him under the bed.”
“This is even worse!”
I’m getting sick just thinking about it!
“Well, all joking aside, what did it say?”
“Oh. It said this.”
I handed the letter to Yulis, who read it quickly and handed it back to me. No, you’re reading it too fast. Did you really read it? I was curious, so I asked her.
“Are you sure you read it correctly, Yulis?”
“I read it fine.”
“Really? Tell me about it.”
When I said that, Yulis’ lips twisted into a scowl.
“Dear Viscount Chris Dreschord, I hope you are doing well now that the grass and trees are getting greener. I would like to thank you very much for the hospitality you extended to me in the royal capital the other day, and for letting me stay at your inn. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you. I would also like to report about the pot-in-pot that you told me about at the dinner table. Thanks to your help, we have successfully completed the pot-in-pot, and although it is still early days in its practical use, we believe that it will soon be effective and eliminate conflicts. If there is anything you need, I will be happy to give it back to you at another time. Please take good care of yourself. Sincerely yours, Yakult Wald.”
She spoke quickly and without mispronouncing a single word.
“Sorry, my bad.”
Next time, I won’t say anything.
“So, what are you going to do?”
“I’m not sure if he’s the same person so I think it would be safer to send a letter saying, [As a thank you, if you don’t mind, please attend my coming-of-age ceremony.]”
When I answered, Yulis nodded once and said,
“That’s right. If he’s here, we’ll know if it’s him. But wouldn’t you enjoy it he came at the coming-of-age ceremony?”
She opened her mouth with an anxious look on her face.
The coming-of-age ceremony in our family is a 30-minute ritual that has been handed down from generation to generation and is not something to be shown to others, so Yulis’ anxiety is natural.
“That’s the thing. This time, I want to hold a big festival to celebrate my coming of age and the completion of the reclamation. Also, I’d like to hold a big festival with all the people in the territory.”
“‘It’ll take……a lot of work and expenses to do it.”
“Ugh, well, that’s true. I want to give everyone who’s followed me recklessly for the past five years since I became a lord a chance to have fun and make a fool of themselves!”
“Oh, I can’t help it. Then I will help you in a small way.”
Yulis narrowed her eyes and showed a relaxed and gentle smile.
