Liliane Aldis was my fiancée. She is the daughter of the Dukes of Aldis, and her personality is so unprincipled that she seems to have thought only of herself since she was a child. She is a selfish woman who will go to any length to get what she wants.

Even so, Duke Aldis is the most influential and prestigious of all the dukes. If she is their daughter, it would not be surprising if she is chosen as my fiancée. My father, the king, and the duke of Aldis had decided on this without my knowledge.

I had hoped that Liliane might take this engagement as an opportunity to change her behavior. I had such high hopes for Liliane, but as expected, she betrayed me.

I confronted Liliane and told her that I was breaking off our engagement on the spot. I returned to my room in a rage, and when Gray, who had already returned to my room, asked me what had happened, I told him the truth.

“No, you idiot.”

Still controlled by anger, I glared at Gray. But he looked at me as if he was looking at something pitiful, and I was pressured by his gaze.

“Well, it’s true that Liliane-sama’s recent behavior has been unsightly. There’s no way you can break off a betrothal that His Majesty has decided on just because you want to.”

“Ah……”

That’s right. The engagement was decided by my father, the king. Of course, as a prince, I have no right to break it. He forced me to go to the royal castle and tell my father everything.

“What the hell are you doing?”

I cowered at the sound of my father’s shout. I waited for more shouting, but my father said nothing more. I looked at him and saw that he was holding his forehead with a somber expression on his face.

“There is no easy way to change what the royals have said once they have said it. In addition, many people have heard it. We’ll take care of it this time, but next time, be careful…….”

I left the room, feeling a little relieved when my father told me to back off. I felt sorry for my father, but I didn’t mean to do anything wrong. It was probably for the best.

I thought I heard my father say, “I knew this would happen…….”

After that, I heard that Liliane had shut herself up at home. I thought I might have been a bit out of line, but I couldn’t have left her in that state. At least now that Liliane was gone, the school was at peace.

“Your Highness. Couldn’t you have done it a little differently?”

That’s what Chrystal asked me one day. I didn’t have to think about it.

“No. It was for the best.”

“But……”

“You’re a pain in the ass, Chrystal.”

When I said this with anger in my voice, Chrystal’s eyes fell down sadly for some reason. As she walked away, she looked somewhat forlorn.

Did I do something wrong?

One day, I heard a rumor that Liliane had returned. I was a little wary that she might do something unnecessary to Tina again. That night, Tina told me that they had become friends.

I wondered what she was up to. It was a little creepy.

The next morning I saw Tina at the first floor entrance. When I approached her, I found her talking to someone I didn’t know. Nope. She looked familiar. She looked like Liliane’s real face. But Liliane is famous for her heavy makeup and would never expose her true face.

“I’ve never seen you before. Are you Tina’s new friend?”

When I called out to them, one of them gasped and just exclaimed. I wondered what was going on.

“So, Your Highness. Are you sure you don’t understand?”

“Hmm? Come to think of it, I recognize you from somewhere…….”

I searched my memory, but I still had no idea. I wondered if it really was Liliane.

“It’s been a long time, Your Highness.”

“Hmm? That voice…….Don’t tell me it’s Liliane!”

I didn’t think it was really Liliane. If that was the case, I might have said something terrible, even if it was to Liliane. But still, when it was this woman, I couldn’t bring myself to apologize.

“What are you doing here? Are you doing something to Tina again?”

“No, nothing like that. I was just having a little chat with Tina. Peacefully, you know.”

“Can you believe it?”

This woman has had her moments. She has always been a cat in front of me. I don’t know if that’s still the case. Why can those around me believe this woman so easily?

I repeated the question several times after that, but the last thing Liliane said stuck in my mind for some reason.

“I’m not interested in you anymore.”

Liliane said this with a smile and left.

After that, Tina became very unhappy and I could not talk to her satisfactorily. Tina seemed to think that Liliane was a friend. I still don’t get it. She had been harassed so much, so how could she forgive her?

I had a few more conversations with Liliane, but she was still not someone I could trust. Everyone would tell me that Liliane was trying to change, but the only people who would talk about it were the people I interacted with. I can’t help but think that they are trying to boost her reputation.

“That’s not true. Lady Liliane is trying to change.”

Chrystal, who had switched seats with Liliane, told me this before class, but I still couldn’t believe it and could only shake my head in silence. However, a short time later, I was surprised by the exam results.

As the king of this country, I have been receiving what can be called a gifted education since I was a child. That’s why I had always been in first place in the school’s examinations, but in that exam, I had fallen to second place. I wanted to get to know the person who had won first place for the future, so I did some research and found out that it was Liliane.

What methods did she use? Did she threaten the teacher? If I ask Chrystal, she will tell me that it was her ability. I can’t believe everything I hear, but the secret agents who have been investigating Liliane’s vicinity recently have all said that there was nothing unnatural about her.

Later, when I heard that Rayford, who had come to this country to study, had disappeared again, I looked for him, and heard from a female student that her classmate was being bullied. I asked for the name, and it was Ray. I rushed to the scene and was very surprised.

Liliane was helping Rayford.

Liliane must not know that Rayford has a connection with me. Only a few people in the school, such as Glenn and the royal family’s secret agents, knew about it, and even Chrystal didn’t know about it. In other words, she is helping Rayford without having anything to do with me.

I was really surprised. At last, I was able to trust Liliane again.

After that, I somehow managed to reconcile with Liliane. However, I still could not change my attitude towards Liliane. When I said that, Liliane seemed to understand why. I guess she is facing her own sins. I knew I had been wrong about Liliane all along.

A few days later, when I sent Tina an invitation to the next soiree, Liliane came to my room with a terrible expression on her face. That was scary.

I was really scared. Even Glenn said it was the first time he thought he might die just by being looked at.

When she told me to sit on the floor, I questioned my sanity, but then I understood how angry Liliane was. There have been people who have warned me in the past, but no one has been so firm with me except my father. I finally understood that what I was doing was causing trouble for Tina.

Outside of the school, it would be a crime of disrespect…….Well, I’m sure Liliane understands that much now.

Liliane is about to change. I don’t know how she will change in the future, but I’m going to keep an eye on her for a while. That would be my responsibility for pushing her into a corner.
