Butcher Fulang’s Noodle Shop - Chapter 52
No wonder Song Shi’an was startled. A young man suddenly appeared at the door with unsteady steps had a pale complexion and no color. He should be considered delicate and elegant.
But there were two asymmetrical palm prints on his face, and on his forehead, there was a big bulge, oozing with blood.
He was wearing a very expensive fox fur cloak that looked like it had been stuck in the snow-melted mud, rubbed dirty. It seemed like he had encountered an accident and had to save a life through all kinds of difficulties and dangers.
“Brother—” Xu Shuqing shouted sadly.
As soon as he shouted, Lao Liu followed suit, with his tail pointing up and erect, and his fangs making a loud “bark bark” sound.
After taking in the scent of the drug, Xu Shuqing ordered the driver to drive faster. He just wanted to take his brother back to the capital to stay away from the little goblins in the backcountry—referring to his sister-in-law Song Shi’an.
After being unconscious for a while, Xu Zhongyue suddenly screamed and curled up, as if holding back the pain of bone erosion. Xu Shuqing was so frightened that he asked the driver to stop and leaned over to take a look.
As a result, he received a headbutt first, Xu Zhongyue’s hands were still tied behind his back. After knocking Xu Shuqing down, he motioned to the frightened coachman to hand over the knife. He turned his wrist, flashed the blade, and cut the restraints on his hands.
He immediately cut the rope around his feet and walked away. Xu Shuqing, a fool who had never weighed his own weight, dared to catch up.
Xu Zhongyue was so angry that he turned around and slapped him hard, causing Xu Shuqing’s ears to buzz.
He asked the driver to get down, untied the leather ring fastened to the horse, abandoned the cart and mounted the horse, clamped his legs, and the big black horse ran towards Qingjiang Town.
.
Xu Zhongyue looked at Song Shi’an with pleading and tender eyes for a long time, and finally told Song Shi’an about these things when he was finally able to enter the room.
The carriage was pulled by two horses, and there was one left. He originally asked Xu Shuqing and the coachman to go back to the capital honestly and not cause any more trouble. Unexpectedly, he followed back, which made Xu Zhongyue’s right eyelid jump back and forth. He couldn’t get angry at all.
After he entered the house, he immediately went to close the window. Unexpectedly, Xu Shuqing had already squeezed his big face in, wailing at the top of his voice: “Brother, I was wrong. I admit to you that I was wrong! Don’t leave me—”
Xu Zhongyue put his palm on his forehead and pushed him out. Song Shi’an looked very uneasy.
This young man with a pale face looked too much like a ghost who chased people with bulging eyes.
.
After Xu Zhongyue explained the cause and effect, Song Shi’an held his husband hand with distress, touched the haggard and handsome face covered with stubble, and said, “I knew you would come back. You promised me that in this life, you won’t be separate from me.”
Tears fell from Song Shi’an’s face, making Xu Zhongyue’s heart palpitate.
“I’ll boil water for you. You take a good bath first. Whatever you want to eat, I’ll cook for you!”
Song Shi’an supported his lower back with one hand and grabbed the bed frame with the other, standing up slowly. It was much more inconvenient as his belly got bigger.
“Don’t be busy, I’ll do it myself!”
Song Shi’an smiled sweetly: “You don’t want to eat the food I cook?”
‘No! I was wrong!’ Xu Zhongyu hurriedly said he wanted it.
.
Although Song Shi’an was angry, he still let Xu Shuqing come in. Xu Zhongyue boiled water and washed himself first, shaved his beard clean, and left some water for Xu Shuqing to wash off.
As soon as the two of them entered the room, they were attracted by the aroma of food. Song Shi’an guessed that they couldn’t wait, so he quickly made two large bowls of noodles, sprinkled with sesame oil, chopped green onions, and a little spicy pepper, and topped with a soft-boiled egg each, along with a large handful of crispy blanched cabbage.
On the three blue and white porcelain plates were fried pork slices with shredded bamboo shoots, scrambled eggs with black fungus, and fried sausage with garlic sprouts.
The gravy on the meat slices was just right, mixed with the rich and delicious meat flavor. The scrambled eggs were fluffy, soft, and fragrant, and the sausages, made in-house during the Chinese New Year, were sweeter than ordinary sausages, which complemented the spiciness in the noodles.
Xu Shuqing, feeling hunger from countless meals missed along the way, slurped noodles and drank hot noodle soup. The runny egg yolk flowed out as he bit into the egg, making the meal even more delicious. He took away a large piece of egg with his chopsticks, earning a disapproving glance from Xu Zhongyue.
The sausage was a delight too. Unlike his brother, Xu Shuqing preferred sweeter flavors, and the sausage perfectly suited his taste. He quickly devoured several pieces.
After finishing the meal, Xu Shuqing burped three times in a row, only to catch Xu Zhongyue’s cold eyes. Looking at the fair, beautiful, gentle, and lovely sister-in-law, he suddenly felt ashamed.
He even disliked his sister-in-law.
If his brother had married his sister-in-law when he was a child, he wouldn’t have had to eat the uncooked noodles and shelled scrambled eggs made by his second brother.
.
Xu Zhongyue said coldly: “Are you full? Hurry up and get out of here.”
Xu Shuqing looked sad and miserable again, with tears on his eyes he begged, “Sister-in-law, brother, it’s not that I don’t want to leave. The emperor already knows that you are still alive. If you don’t come to Beijing to face the emperor, our entire Xu family will be executed for the crime of deceiving the emperor!”
Xu Zhongyue did not blink an eye and said coldly: “Who is left in our Xu family?”
“…Me.”
Xu Zhongyue glanced at him and didn’t bother to say more, “Oh, then it’s okay.”
