Episode 65
Tae-seo licked the white powder on his lower lip with his tongue. The sweet powder stuck to his tongue and melted away. He raised his eyes without avoiding the donut touching the corner of his mouth.
Se-heon was personally feeding him. It wasn’t uncommon for him to do so, but today Han-soo was here.Â
‘He still doesn’t care about others.’
The important thing was that Tae-seo didn’t care about others either. Tae-seo opened his mouth and ate the donut. It was too big to eat in one bite, so he bit into it, and Se-heon held out the other side. While doing so, his other hand was already holding a drink.
Tae-seo smacked his lips a few times and gave a thumbs-up.
“It’s delicious. Can a donut be this soft and fluffy?”
“I guess that’s why it’s so popular.”
“I guess famous places all have a reason.”
As Tae-seo was eating like a baby bird with his mouth open, Se-heon seemed curious about the taste and took a bite of the donut he was eating. When powder stuck to his lower lip, Tae-seo laughed and gently brushed it off with his index finger.
“It’s good, right?”
“It is.”
“Shall we try other flavors too?”
“I’ll let you taste them all, so take your time eating.”
When Se-heon took out another pastry, Tae-seo opened his mouth and ate it.
The powdered sugar flying from the donuts was like pink romance dust, creating their own world. Thanks to that, Han-soo, who had been completely forgotten at some point, was watching them without any concern.
“Wow.”
Han-soo couldn’t close his mouth which had dropped open at their affectionate actions. He even clapped silently, expressing his surprise at their sweet appearance.
“There was a reason for being hospitalized. Your legs are fine, but your hands aren’t.”
Even at Han-soo’s mumbling, Tae-seo kept eating what Se-heon took care of. Rather, he ate the bread while making eye contact with Han-soo as if showing off. And he wiggled his hands. It was obvious that he was deliberately showing that his hands were fine to boast about his romance with Han-soo.
“That’s right. Lovers feed each other.”
Han-soo muttered as if half-giving up, saying it was an action that could be done between the two. Moreover, he looked at Se-heon with new eyes.
“I thought you would have a very plain romance…”
“Is there such a romance?”
Se-heon said while holding the straw from the drink to Tae-seo’s mouth. A plain romance must mean each person eats delicious food on their own. Taking it that way, Han-soo said while looking at the straw.
“Or I thought it would be a romance where someone takes care of you.”
“Is there such a romance?”
At Se-heon’s repeated answer, Han-soo raised both hands first as if he had lost.
“Yes… There is no plain romance, and there is even less romance where Se-heon is taken care of.”
What’s the point of saying that he looks too strong and cold to ever seem like he would carefully take care of someone?
Tae-seo burst into laughter at Han-soo’s surprised behavior. Even when Se-heon wiped the powder from the corner of his mouth with his finger, Tae-seo didn’t stop laughing and belatedly fake-coughed.
“Se-heon hyung wasn’t originally like this, but now he takes good care of me.”
“It must be because his feelings have deepened more than before.”
“It could be that, or it could be because I’m pregnant.”
“Ah, since you’re the baby’s father, even more… Huh? Pregnant?”
Han-soo, who was responding while nodding his head, belatedly understood the meaning of the words and raised his voice.
“You, the baby’s father you mentioned last time is then… Really, for real?”
Back then, he thought it was a sudden, random thing to say. Moreover, the call was immediately cut off, so he couldn’t even ask properly, but now he understood.
“Yeah, I’m pregnant. It’s a blessing.”
“Ah, right. Pregnancy is a blessing. But I’m not saying it’s weird right now, so…”
His friend, who had been living as a beta, suddenly said he was an omega one day, and now he says he’s pregnant.
“No, my baby’s name is Blessing.”
Tae-seo clarified the meaning of ‘Blessing’ again without taking his eyes off Han-soo’s surprised expression. It was definitely different when parents were surprised and when a friend was surprised. When he told his parents the truth, he was worried about how shocked they would be, but he could watch Han-soo’s reaction quite amusingly.
“Honey, this is fun. Should we call someone else too?”
Who else would be surprised by his pregnancy?
***
“Did you find out?”
At Se-heon’s serious voice on the phone, Tae-seo and Han-soo shut their mouths. Especially Han-soo, who thought Se-heon was a very kind person contrary to his appearance, seemed even more surprised. When Se-heon’s eyes sank as he took the call, it didn’t suit his strong face at all.
“He becomes completely different when working.”
“Be quiet.”
Han-soo leaned his upper body towards Tae-seo and whispered, then got poked in the side and let out a silent scream.
“I think I need to go…”
“Go quickly. Hurry.”
At Se-heon’s words after finishing the call, Tae-seo pushed his back as if telling him to go right away. He was already a busy person, and these days he practically lived at the hospital because of him, so Tae-seo’s heart was heavy too.
“Will you be okay alone though?”
“Han-soo is here too, and I’ve been fine alone. Go quickly.”
“…I’ll be back soon.”
“Okay, honey. Bring something delicious when you come.”
Tae-seo even mentioned himself to try to send Se-heon out quickly as he kept hesitating. At that, Se-heon smiled as if he had no choice and opened the hospital room door.
“Han-soo, take good care of him.”
“Don’t worry. Hyung-nim.”
In the meantime, Tae-seo rolled his eyes at the resounding answer that when he became hyung-nim, Se-heon left.
“So what should we do now?”
“What do you mean? I’m going to sleep, and you need to go home.”
“Me? Hyung-nim just said to take good care of you?”
“I’ll be alone. Go.”
When Tae-seo pulled Han-soo’s arm, he got up pretending to give in. Since the owner of the hospital room told him to leave, it wasn’t polite to keep sitting around, but his face was full of lingering attachment.
“Go quickly.”
“…I’ll come again next time.”
Although Han-soo was very reluctant, Tae-seo kept pushing his back as if sending him out was the only important thing. After sending out Han-soo too, Tae-seo shook his head as if he couldn’t help it with his back to the door.
“There aren’t many people coming, but those who come once don’t want to leave.”
Tae-seo lay down on his bed with a refreshed face. Since it was still bright during the day, he was going to take a short nap and wake up. It was a time when everyone had to work hard, so he thought no one would come to visit.
Perhaps because he was tired from meeting several people since the morning, it seemed he could fall asleep quickly even without forcing himself to sleep. Just as Tae-seo was blinking and about to fall asleep.
Tae-seo’s eyes snapped open at the sound of the door opening and someone’s footsteps entering. With his back to the door, he couldn’t see who had come in, but Tae-seo’s expression sank.
Tae-seo got up and got out of bed before seeing the person. And Tae-seo, who had completely turned around, made eye contact with the person and said.
“I knew you would come at least once.”
“You’re quick-witted.”
The man’s deep voice resonated in the hospital room and reached Tae-seo. Until now, he thought Se-heon had the best voice in this world. Listening to him speak made his heart feel at ease, and when he said sweet words, it felt like his ears were melting away. Se-heon’s voice must have been inherited from above. Seeing that the man in front also had a pleasant voice.
Tae-seo, who had been focusing on the voice, raised his gaze to look at the man in front of him. He resembled Se-heon. Their appearances weren’t exactly the same, but their vibes were similar. To the point where he wondered why he couldn’t recognize him right away before, he was someone who reminded him of Se-heon.
It was none other than Kang Hak-jung, the chairman of KH Group.
“Please sit.”
When Tae-seo pointed to the sofa, Chairman Kang Hak-jung went to the seat without declining. He was even sitting in the head seat as if he were the owner of the hospital room, not Tae-seo. However, neither Chairman Kang Hak-jung nor Tae-seo bothered to point that out.
Tae-seo sat across from Chairman Kang Hak-jung.
“We meet again.”
“Indeed.”
When Tae-seo readily nodded, Chairman Kang Hak-jung showed a faint smile. It was a suspicious look, wondering if it was just a casual response or if he really remembered meeting before. Then Tae-seo recalled the previous memory as if it was no big deal.
“We met at this hospital before. You sat in front of me, didn’t you?”
It was the day Tae-seo came to this hospital for a checkup and was waiting for Se-heon alone at the first-floor cafe. A grandfather he saw for the first time had asked him if he was sick somewhere. And because he was someone he met for the first time that day, his past self had directly revealed what was on his mind. It was bitter to have become an omega due to a late manifestation.
“Have you been well?”
Tae-seo nodded at Chairman Kang Hak-jung’s question.
“Thanks to you, I ate what I wanted to eat and slept when I wanted to sleep.”
The advice Chairman Kang Hak-jung, the grandfather at the time, gave was nothing special. He had told him to tell the person he lives with about the food that comes to mind and to eat what he wants to eat.
It was very simple advice, but it was effective. Perhaps because of that memory, he didn’t find Chairman Kang Hak-jung difficult even after meeting him again.
“But why didn’t you tell me back then? You could have just said a word that you were Se-heon hyung’s grandfather, not someone else.”
Tae-seo expressed a slight reproach as if he were disappointed. If he had let him know who he was then, they wouldn’t have parted ways with such a light conversation.
“I just approached you because my eyes were drawn to you.”
Chairman Kang Hak-jung explained the reason he didn’t mention his relationship with Se-heon. There was a young man his eyes were drawn to, and he talked to him because he was fond of him. So he said it had nothing to do with his grandson.
“But you never seem surprised to see me. You must have known who I was this time.”
“Yes, you’re the chairman. And Se-heon hyung’s grandfather.”
“Then do you know why I came to see you?”
At Chairman Kang Hak-jung’s question, Tae-seo showed a bright smile.
“Of course.”
